When a rare directory namespace collision ten years ago made us aware of each other working at the same company at the same time, I discovered that I have an homonym. He lives in Auvergne and that is about all that I know about him apart that I suspect he is much older than me. Maybe I should call him some day.

Later I discovered that there is another one who lives in Switzerland. Are there that many Liotier ? Meanwhile you know who the real Jean-Marc Liotier is – beware of imitations !

We mourn the loss of Jacqueline Liotier, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother deceased today after ninety seven years of life. Much more than sadness I feel pride and inspiration in the long, rich and righteous life she lived among us. Until the very end, in spite of the suffering she has remained the sharp and lively lady we all appreciated. She will be certainly be remembered for a long time.

I you fancy lunch with me, I’m afraid I am no longer able to take you to my usual restaurants Porte de La Villette and Avenue de Flandre… My new professional dwelling place is now the Neuf Cegetel office named Quai Ouest, right across the bridge from the Issy – Val De Seine train station. But I’m sure we’ll find plenty of restaurants to explore there too…

Jean-Marc Liotier’s old addresses

I have been reachable by email for more than twelve years. My address is now the reliable jim@liotier.org and I can only encourage others to own their domain so that they can count on a stable online identity. But before that there have been a few rather rough beginnings with various accounts all over the place. Among them, the curious will find liotier@for-president.com and liotier@imaginet.fr.

In 2001 a sad mistake while moving my mailbox caused the loss of all past correspondence. That definitely taught me to backup in a manner quite unforgettable – as the saying goes : “There are two types of persons. Those that have already experienced a data loss and those that will”. But because of that a few years of my history is now lost for all but those who may still have the odd message in their mailboxes. It may seem futile but I really love occasionnaly digging up old stuff for nostalgia’s sake…

Pauline is now three years old – this was of course the perfect occasion for extinguishing three candles at the Liotier house. The current political contingencies have made the celebrations a bit more complicated than usual… But in the not too distant future I’m sure bigger parties shall be back in fashion ! Anyway Pauline wishes to extend her thanks to all of you who have been so generous… Pauline was definitely spoilt this year ! Let’s wish her a happy birthday and an even happier future…

A suivre donc…
